Hello everybody! It has been a while since I updated, but I am back. I unfortunately became sick during the holidays, which is why I did not post during that time, if you missed the announcement on my Discord server (https://discord.gg/NrXWtQ3). Hope you all had a better holiday time than me! Anyways, let’s jump right in. Today shall be about some interesting things that happened in, you guessed it, southeast Asia. First let’s talk about Qin Shi Huang. He was a Chinese emperor in the 200BCs. He was the person who was responsible for giving China its name and started construction of the Great Wall. He also survived an assassination attempt by running around a pillar to gain time. Now we move on to Japan in 1274 (before anime, so none of that here). The Mongols have just started invading, and it does not look good. What is that sound, though? Oh, nothing, just a typhoon wrecking the invasion fleet. Most of the soldiers drowned, and many ships sank. A few years later, they tried again, but with 900 ships instead of only 700. Hmm something seems off. Is that… ANOTHER TYPHOON WRECKING THE FLEET AGAIN?! The answer is yes. Now let’s move again, to something slightly less amazing, or more amazing in some ways. The year is 1592ish, and Japan is now invading Korea. Whats this? The navy commander for the Koreans isn’t defending against a kinda obvious invasion fleet? Oops. All but 13 ships of the Korean navy are now firewood. Time for a new navy commander. They then did so, and got Yi Sun-sin to do the job. He did lots of amazing things with the tiny navy, which he expanded quickly, but not before battling 133 Japanese warships, sinking 31 of them without losing one of his own. When he died to a stray bullet during a battle, he demanded that they not stop beating the war drums to keep morale up by not notifying soldiers of his death. His son also put on his armor in order to achieve this goal. I hope that you guys and gals found this as interesting as I did, and that you would all have a wonderful week. Goodbye!
