Interesting things 2: Space Elevators and the Rod From God

Hello everybody! Welcome back to my blog. I hope that you have all had a good week since the last post. Today I will be speaking about space elevator technology and kinetic strike weaponry. I believe that developing one of these sufficiently is key to achieving the next step of the civilizational ladder, and the other is just cool. A space elevator is required to have an efficient way of getting off of Earth. Currently, it is extremely expensive to do so. A space elevator would reduce that cost by a lot. Unfortunately, we require a way to make large amounts of carbon nanotubes, as currently available materials are too weak to be able to effectively use. Now on to the RfGs. RfGs are a concept for a weapon that does not break the laws that nations have put in pace against orbital weaponry. An RfG is essentially a telephone pole made of tungsten, which can b shaped to decrease drag and increase accuracy. Now, if you remember Sunday’s post, you will realize that tungsten is the most heat-resistant know metal. There is a reason for the rod being mad from it. It is because the rod is essentially yote out of the back of a orbiting spaceship, and then falls back onto the planet. It will reach terminal velocity shortly before impact, and will explode with the force of ~11.5 tons of TNT.
